Srbi su neobičan narod, koji najveće nevolje dočekuje i ispraća sa nepodnošljivom lakoćom postojanja. Naši duh umetnosti, s kojim možemo da izađemo u svet i pokažemo svoju originalnost. Treba da verujemo u naše slavnke pretke, čiji koreni potiču iz Mionice ,koji će držati kormilo srpskog duha I čuvati od zabarava najbolje od nas.Velikani prošlosti MioniceDimitrije „Mita“ Rakić (Mionica, 15/27. oktobar 1846 — Beograd, 5/17. mart 1890) je bio srpski književnik, prevodilac, političar i ekonomista, ministar finansija.Rođen je u Mionici kao sin Jevrema (1818–1879), sreskog kapetana u Mionici i kasnije u Šapcu, i Marte Rakić rođene Mihailović. Pravo ime mu je bilo Dimitrije ,a nadimak Mita. Osnovnu školu je pohađao u Mionici i Valjevu, a gimnazijsko školovanje i studije završio je na Velikoj školi u Beogradu. Studirao je u Minhenu, Cirihu, Getingenu i Londonu.U Srbiju se vratio 1871. godine i dobio prvo radno mesto u Gimnaziji u Šapcu. Sledeće 1872. godine izabran je za redovnog člana Srpskog učenog društva. Od 1873. radio je kao profesor u Drugoj polugimnaziji u Beogradu. Bio je urednik političkog lista „Vreme“ (1874. godine). U periodu od 1873. do 1879. radio je u Ministarstvu finansija, a od 1881. je bio sekretar u Ministarstvu spoljnih poslova. Bio je 1885. u Privilegovanoj Narodnoj banci Kraljevine Srbije vladin komesar. Od 1886. bio je predsednik poreske uprave, a 1888. je postao načelnik statističkog odeljenja u Ministarstvu narodne privrede.Bio je ministar finansija u kabinetu Nikole Hristića od 14/26. aprila 1888. dok nije podneo ostavku 8/20. oktobra 1888. Penzionisan je 1889. godine.Uz pisanje književnih dela i ekonomskih rasprava, prevodio je različita dela sa više stranih jezika: ruskog, francuskog, engleskog i nemačkog. Preveo je Igoove „Jadnike“, izašlo je 20. svezaka prevoda od 1872. do 1886. godine. To je prvi prevod ovog romana na srpski jezik i jedini do Drugog svetskog rata. Njegovo delo je i nacrt Zakona o slobodi štampe iz 1881. godine. Odlikovan je Takovskim krstom i drugim odlikovanjima.Bio je oženjen Anom, ćerkom Milana Đ. Milićevića.
